Winter Dreaming

As I look at the white expanse that in the summer time was the lake, my mind wanders to what I want to accomplish in my garden this spring. There are a few projects I have in mind.  One of them is to install our secret garden. This garden will be protected by the west side of our house and then we will install 3 sides of fencing. This will solve a few problems that I deal with in my garden. One problem is protection from bitter cold wind in the winter time. Another, and more annoying, is the pesky deer that roam my yard and eat everything in site.

Another dream I’m looking to hatch into reality is a She Shed to house all my tools for gardening and maybe a few girly items. Right now, all of my tools are in the back of my garage and it’s hard for me to find what I need. I received a book for Christmas called She Sheds: A Room of Her Own by Erika Kotite.  The beautiful pictures are inspiring.  Along with my she shed, I want to install a cold frame, or for more dollars, a greenhouse.

Other daydreaming ideas are the many flower beds I want to install. I would like to start a vegetable garden, but this involves deer fencing. I’m going through all of my catalogs to order flower seeds and plants from different companies.  I also received a local garden center gift certificate for Christmas. I would like to buy some trees as our property is in short supply of those. I’m doing drawings for those flower beds and though I’m no artist, it’s encouraging to see my day dreams becoming tangible.

I hope you come along with me on my journey to achieve my day dreams! What are some of your winter dreams for your garden?
